Ducted Reverse Cycle Systems - Airconditioning Hints & Tips Guide
General Operation Tips:
Set Temperature:
- Cooling is ideally set around 24 degrees. Lowering by 1 degree will increase running costs by 10%. Further lowering of the temperature will possibly risk overheating the unit during a heatwave.
- Heating is ideally set to around 21 degrees.
Fan Speed:
- Cooling: Medium to high
- Heating: Low to Medium
- Auto fan will adjust the speed automatically for you.
Zone Control:
- Always set the zone switches to the desired areas before turning the unit on. To prolong the life of a zone motor always turn the unit off before adjusting zones.
- On extreme temperature days limit the zoned areas to a minimum. This will lower your running costs and help to achieve the desired temperature.
- ZONES - do not exceed units gross capacity.
- Conditioning areas greater than the units capacity will result in increased running costs and a possible reduced lifespan.
Minimum and Maximum Outlets: WILL NOT DO COMPLETE HOME.
- Maximum example: All living areas, i.e. Family, lounge & kitchen/meals.
- Minimum example: 4hp - 4 outlets, 5hp - 5 outlets, 6hp - 6 outlets.
Maintenance:
- Ensure peak performance by having the equipment serviced annually.
- Filters - to be cleaned every 2 months by giving the filter a wash with the hose.
- Ensure that the outdoor unit is clear of rubbish, bins, plastic bags, leaves, dog hair, etc
Before Calling For Help:
Poor airflow and performance
- Filters are probably dirty (Remove filters and clean).
- Keep outdoor unit clear of any obstruction that may interfere with airflow around the unit.
Unit Suddenly Shuts Down During Extreme Conditions (heat & cool)"
- Possibly overload - turn the unit off for 1/2 hour & turn on to reset.
- Ensure that the thermostat temperature is adjusted to bring the temperature gradually to your desired level.
